Why Reiki?
My first introduction to Reiki was years ago when my mother was receiving radiation treatments for metastatic melanoma. She was offered Reiki following one of her treatments and told me that the pain and discomfort she was having from the treatments themselves, as well as a recent surgery, had lessened and she felt more peaceful afterwards. I was intrigued and at the time had considered exploring how to perform this for her myself, but unfortunately did not have the time to do so before she passed.
At the end of 2019, I was feeling like something was missing – a tug to turn my focus elsewhere but I wasn’t sure what to look for. An opportunity to get certified as Reiki Level I presented itself and that gentle tug turned into a full blown push toward some self-discovery. I’ve always been an empath; I have a master’s degree in Higher Education Counseling and use many of the skills learned through that program, as well as my own intuition, to support those around me on a daily basis. Reiki provided a new avenue to do that in a different way.
I was skeptical about Reiki until I experienced the energy for myself. During my Reiki I training, we did an exercise where our group sat in a circle and joined hands. Our task was to “pass the energy” to the next person, which sounds super "woo." I’ve never felt anything like what happened in that moment. I felt a tingle that started in my feet, spread throughout my legs, into my torso and then felt as if it exploded out of the top of my head. My entire body got warm and I had to take off my sweatshirt to get some relief. Weird sounding, right? The strange thing is, it wasn’t weird once it happened. It was calming, reassuring and solidifying that this was something magical. And who doesn’t need a bit of magic in their life?
Fast forward to today, I’m now a Reiki Master Teacher of Usui Reiki Ryoho, and I feel honored to be able to share my experiences to benefit my clients.
If the year 2020 taught us anything I think it's that we need to take the time to slow down and focus on ourselves a bit. I can't wait to meet you and show you how YOU can connect to your everyday magic.
"To experience peace does not mean that your life is always blissful. It means that you are capable of tapping into a blissful state of mind amidst the normal chaos of a hectic life."
